What is a theorem and a proof of a theorem?

Theorem is an assertion in mathematics for which there is a proof in the theory under consideration. Theorems and their proofs develop the logic of thinking of students, spatial representations and imagination, teach methods of proof, contribute to the realization of the idea of the axiomatic construction of mathematics. In the school mathematics course, students get acquainted with such basic methods of proof: synthetic, analytical, analytical-synthetic, and so on.
