What is Adam’s apple and why does it only happen to men?

A kadik is a bulge in front of a person’s neck. Both guys and girls have an Adam’s apple, but the guys have it more. During puberty, the Adam’s apple (which is actually made up of cartilage covering the larynx or “voice box”) grows, causing the person’s voice to deepen. As the Adam’s apple gets bigger, it becomes more noticeable, especially in guys. Kadik protects the vocal cords that allow us to speak, laugh, sing and make different sounds. If you touch the front of your neck and speak, you will most likely feel vibration.
