What is air mass and the role of air currents?

Air masses mean large volumes of air stretched over long distances, which have similar parameters (the main one is temperature). The movement of these air masses is scientifically called circulation and it has a decisive influence on the weather in a particular region that is under these air currents. Solar energy heats different parts of the Earth in different ways, and these changes in temperature and pressure cause air to move from one area or layer of the atmosphere to another, leading to changes in the weather.
