What is an arterial pulse and what is its nature?

The arterial pulse is the elastic oscillation of the artery wall in response to cardiac output. With each beat, the heart of an adult ejects about 70 ml of blood. Blood spreads at high speed through the circulatory system and presses on the vessels. Arteries have the greatest elasticity and provide significant resistance, thus forming an arterial pulse.
