What is Assyria famous for and why did it go down in history?

Assyria was one of the states of the Ancient World. It was located in the Middle East, at the junction of three modern states: Iraq, Syria and Turkey. In the north, they advanced to Lake Van (where the state of Urartu was located), in the south to the Persian Gulf, and in the southwest to the border with Egypt near Gaza. The Assyrians controlled the entire eastern Mediterranean coast.

They went down in history as their military affairs, as they began to widely use siege weapons, cavalry and iron weapons. And also the famous library of Ashurbanipal, where cuneiform tablets and papyri were collected.
