What is called the golden age of the Roman Empire?

For a long time, the Roman Empire was ruled by despotic emperors who constantly waged wars of conquest, and most importantly tightened the laws within the state. After them, in the 2nd century AD, the emperors of the Antonid dynasty came to power.

The most prominent representatives of this dynasty of Roman emperors were Trajan and the philosopher-turned-emperor, Marcus Aurelius. It was the 2nd century that went down in history under the name “The Golden Age of the Roman Empire”.

Under the Antonides, wars ceased, friendly relations between the emperors and the senate were established, the empire ceased to be persecuted for views. The historian Tacitus described this time picturesquely, who considered this period “rare happiness”.
