What is colonization and how did it happen in the New World?

Colonization is the seizure and annexation to one state of territories with which it has no borders. The invading country is called the metropolis. The colonization of a part of the world America began immediately after its discovery. The first colonists were the Spaniards, who in just a few decades destroyed the kingdom of the Incas in Peru and the Aztecs in Mexico, and captured almost all of South and Central America. The Portuguese settled along the Amazon. From the 17th century, the British and French began to establish settlements in North America and gradually seize land from the local Indians.
