The term “inland waters” has two meanings. Firstly, waters that are on land (lakes, rivers, ponds, etc.) are called inland waters. Secondly, this name is given to describe the water reserves of a particular state. In this case, inland waters also include parts of the sea and oceans that are located within the state borders of a particular country.
The river system is the main river with all its tributaries.
A river basin is the area that the river system covers.
