What is mycelium? And what is its meaning?

The mycelium (mycelium) is a mass of branched, tubular filaments (hyphas) of fungi. The mycelium forms the thallus or undifferentiated body of a typical fungus. It can be microscopic in size or develop into visible structures such as braces, mushrooms, puffballs, rhizomorphs (long filaments of hyphae glued together), sclerotia (hard, compact masses), funnels, ears, and truffles. At a certain stage, it produces spores, directly or through special fruiting bodies.
