What is Spirogyra’s body made of?

Spirogyra is a multicellular algae that belongs to the department of green algae and lives in fresh water bodies.
Her body looks like a thread, consisting of cells located one after another. In spirogyra cells, the chloroplast (or chromatophore) looks like a spirally wound ribbon (hence the name of this alga). There is a lot of air between the cell membrane and the cytoplasm, so Spirogyra floats on the surface of the water. Its clusters are called mud.
