What is the biological role of asexual reproduction in the evolution of living things?

The role is to prevent extinction. Reproduction in this way is much easier to maintain a population, since one individual does not need to look for an individual of the opposite sex. Asexual reproduction is an important stage in the development of all life on earth. A similar way of reproduction is typical for a simple (prokaryotic) cell, and, less often, for a eukaryotic one. An example from eukaryotes is strobilation – the division of one living creature into two creatures. An example would be annelids, which, after being cut in two, can exist on their own.
