What is the biological significance of water?

Water is the basis of life on Earth. Absolutely all living organisms of the planet contain water in their bodies, because water is a universal solvent. All kinds of reactions and processes take place in it, it is a source of hydrogen and oxygen for plants and animals. Due to the special arrangement of atoms in the molecule, water is able to split any substance in a certain time – one hydrogen with a positive charge “pulls” part of the dissolved substance towards itself, the second with a negative one – in its direction. In water, all reactions occur faster, it is a universal catalyst.
