What is the difference between a bud and an escape?

The bud differs from the shoot in that it is formed on the shoot and is one of its organs along with the stem and leaves. The shoot, in turn, can emerge from the bud. Shoots are formed at the ends of internodes and have different distances from each other. New internodes are formed from the apical bud, so the shoot continues to grow. Of the lateral buds, basically only leaves open, and not shoots. Despite the fact that mature trees can also be considered shoots, this term is little used in relation to woody species (their stems are called trunks).
