What is the difference between an algae cell and a bacterial cell?

1. A cell of algae is a eukaryote (there is a nucleus with hereditary information), and a bacterial cell is a prokaryote (there is no formed nucleus).
2. The algal cell has additional membrane organelles that bacteria do not have.
3. The habitat of algae – water bodies, and bacteria – a variety of conditions.
4. The algae cell does not have a protective capsule. Bacterial organisms have it, and with its help the bacterium is protected from mechanical damage during drying, movement. The capsule is a source of reserve substances, which prevents bacteria from dying.
5. Algae cells lack plasmids. Bacteria have them. Plasmids are the custodians of genomic information. They allow the cell to fight the action of antibiotics.
