What is the difference between direct mode control and program mode control?

When controlling in direct mode, a person sequentially enters the necessary commands, the execution of which occurs gradually, each time after each command. For example, a person enters a set of commands into a Windows command prompt. When controlled in program mode, the command set is executed automatically. For example, a program in the Pascal language was compiled and then all the commands specified in it happened.
