What is the difference between disc formatting and file formatting?

First, it’s worth understanding the very concept of “Formatting”. This is the removal of the old file system and the creation of a new one (in the case of formatting any media or disk). Also, the word “Format” is used when they want to delete something.

When a file is formatted, information is erased only in this file (or rather, it is erased itself), while when formatting a disk, absolutely all information that is present on it is deleted.
