What is the difference between gods and people in Mesopotamia?

In Mesopotamia, as in other states of the Ancient World, there were special supernatural beings who were believed to influence the world order and the activities of people. The relationship between the gods of Mesopotamia and the locals was based on submission. The population brought them the fruits of their activities, sacrifices. They considered the gods to be something sublime, inaccessible to the understanding of ordinary people, therefore the apparatus of shamanism was sufficiently developed there. There were special people who could communicate with the gods.
