What is the difference between the cell structure of unicellular plants and animals?

Both plants and animals can be unicellular. However, the structure of their cells is radically different.

1. The wall of plant cells is called a shell, it is much thicker than the walls of animal cells.

2. The plant cell contains plastids, which contain chloroplasts involved in the process of photosynthesis.

3. The shape of a plant cell can be rectangular or square, while a unicellular animal can have bizarre shapes (ciliate shoe).

4. The membrane of animal cells is called the cytoplasmic membrane, as it contains glycogen.
