What is the difference between the processes of heat regulation in the summer and winter periods?

In the case of a decrease in temperature in winter, an increase in the metabolic rate occurs with an increase in heat production. If the temperature rises in summer, the heat production decreases. The skin plays an important role in heat transfer. When the ambient temperature rises, the heat receptors of the skin are irritated – sweating begins, blood vessels dilate. With the expansion of blood vessels, heat transfer increases and thus the body temperature decreases. In this way, the possibility of overheating is eliminated. Cold affects cold receptors. Sweating decreases, less heat is given off, and blood vessels constrict. The temperature inside the body rises.
