What is the difference between the steppe and forests?

The difference between steppes and forests is that in the former, the dominant vegetation is herbaceous, and in the latter, woody species prevail. This difference is observed due to the fact that in the steppes, moisture comes seasonally (i.e. there are seasons of rainy or snow and seasons of drought), while in forests the moisture is more moderate, which contributes to the year-round growth of trees. In the steppes, only annual plants have time to grow and give seeds in a short time of precipitation, which is why they are the most common here.
