What is the difference between the structure of the stem of herbaceous plants and the structure of the stem of tree species?

There are 4 layers in the stem: bark (skin, cork, bast), cambium, wood and pith.

In woody plants, the skin is only on young shoots and is replaced by cork by winter. Well developed: bast providing downdraft; cambium, due to which the stem grows in thickness; wood, the vessels of which carry out the ascending flow and the core, which stores substances for the winter.

In herbaceous plants, the bark is formed by the skin and bast, there is no cambium and core, since the aboveground part dies off for the winter.
