What is the difference between turbines and piston machines?

The difference between an internal combustion engine and a steam turbine is that the engine shaft in the turbine is driven through the blades, onto which jets of steam are ejected from the nozzles, without the help of a piston, connecting rod and crankshaft. Turbines do not have any cycles, since the rotation of the shaft is continuous.
