The force that lifts balloons into the air is called buoyancy. This is because the mass of the ball is much less than the mass of air and thus the mass of air pushes the ball up. As long as the mass of the ball is less than the mass of air, the air will push the ball up, for one reason, different temperatures. As you know, cold air displaces warm air upward, this happens when the door is open wide in winter, cold air goes down, and warm air goes up. Therefore, in order to raise the balloon up, it is heated with a special burner, thereby balancing the temperature, the balloon floats across the sky. Any body immersed in a liquid or floating in air is subjected to a buoyant force directed upwards and equal to the weight of the liquid or air displaced by it.
