What is the fundamental difference between reptiles and amphibians?

Despite the fact that reptiles, as evidenced by archaeological excavations, descended from ancient amphibians, in evolutionary terms, the former are more developed creatures. They have a number of features. First, reptiles already lay eggs instead of eggs and external fertilization. Secondly, amphibians spawn exclusively in water, while reptiles can survive without water reservoirs and lay eggs in dry places. Thirdly, reptiles lack skin respiration (they breathe only with the lungs).
