What is the fundamental difference between sexual and vegetative reproduction?

With vegetative reproduction, new individuals develop from the cells of organs or their parts, due to which the nutrition and growth of plants (vegetative) occurs. The new individual inherits all the characteristics of the mother’s organism. During sexual reproduction, the formation of a new organism occurs with the help of gametes – two different sex cells, each with its own characteristics and chromosomes.
