What is the Golden Horde?

The Golden Horde is a medieval Mongol-Tatars state located in Eurasia and existed from the 13th to the 16th centuries. For several centuries, Russia was dependent on the Golden Horde, which collected tribute from the Russian princes and for some time issued labels for reign. In Russian chronicles, the Golden Horde was called “Ulus Juchi” (“Possession of Khan Juchi”), and only in 1556 the state began to be called by the name familiar to us. The horde consisted of several khanates. In the XIV century, the Horde adopted the official religion – Islam.
