What is the importance of whisker formation for a strawberry plant?

Strawberry whiskers serve for (vegetative) propagation and daughter rosettes are formed on them. Each mustache consists of nodes and internodes. At the point where the mustache touches the soil, a rosette (young plant) is formed from each even node, on which, in turn, new mustaches are formed from the axillary buds of the leaves. Generally speaking, strawberries multiply with the help of a mustache.
