What is the influence of the environment on the development of the organism in the embryonic period?

The organism in the embryonic period develops in utero, but in this case it can be influenced by the external environment. This is especially important at the initial stage of development, when all the most important organ systems are laid. Through the mother’s body, various chemicals can affect development – drugs, alcohol, smoking, substances in hazardous industries (industry, agriculture). The organism being formed can also be influenced by the causative agents of diseases – bacteria, viruses. Various organ defects, up to deformities, can manifest to varying degrees.
