What is the main content of the New Economic Policy (NEP)?

The new economic policy was conceived by the Bolshevik leadership in 1921. The main content of the NEP was the replacement of the food appropriation tax, which made it possible to develop the economy in agriculture. The peasants had the opportunity to sell surplus products in the markets. It was allowed to rent medium-sized enterprises or found small private enterprises. The financial reform allowed the country’s leadership to strengthen the ruble. Thus, all these reforms led to the strengthening of the economy of the new Soviet state.
