What is the meaning of falling leaves?

With the onset of autumn, perennial plants begin to prepare for wintering. By this time, they have already accumulated the necessary nutrients, so the process of photosynthesis in the leaves is gradually reduced until it stops completely. After that, the pigmentation of the leaves changes and they fall off. This process is called leaf fall and is necessary so that, having accumulated nutrients, the plant in winter does not use them to feed unnecessary organs, which are the leaves in winter. Due to the low temperature, the process of photosynthesis does not occur and the need for leaves disappears.
