What is the merit of Galileo to physical science?

Galileo Galilei made a huge contribution to the development of many physical sciences. He was the first scientist to use a telescope to observe the night sky. He was the first to suggest that the Sun is the center of the Solar System. He formulated the laws of falling bodies, the movement of a pendulum and other laws of physics. The scientist observed a lot, wrote down the results of observations, conducted and described experiments.
