| The excretory organs of the earthworm are called metanephridia. They are located metamerically (in each segment of the body of the worm there is one pair of metanephridia). There is a funnel at the end of each metanephridium. It opens into the body cavity of the worm. Excretion products enter it. Behind the funnel is a long convoluted canal, which passes through the septum between the segments and enters the next segment of the body, where it opens outward with a special hole. Through it, excretion products are excreted.
