What is the name of the numerous thin outgrowths of the cells of the integumentary tissue of the root?

The root is a very important organ found in higher plants. Its main function is to extract water and dissolved inorganic substances from the soil. This becomes possible with the help of special thin and long outgrowths of the integumentary tissue of the root – root hairs. It is, in essence, a long cage. It grows into the soil, and water penetrates through the pores of the cell membrane. Then the liquid flows through conducting vessels into the stem, leaves, flowers and fruits of a particular plant.
