What is the origin and structure of the fruit?

The fruit develops after the flower has bloomed, and is formed from certain parts of it. The fruit consists of a pericarp and seeds. Pericarp – overgrown and modified walls of the ovary. Often other parts of the flower (the base of the stamens, petals, sepals, receptacle) are involved in the formation of the pericarp. Seeds are formed from ovules.
