What is the peculiarity of the formation of statehood in the United States?
First, the United States arose as a result of the separation of the colony from the metropolis, while the overwhelming majority of the population of the colonies were English-speaking descendants of settlers from the islands (what is today called WASP – White Anglo-Saxon Protestants). Hence, the disengagement from the British took place on the basis of citizenship and subordination to the constitution, and not on the basis of religious or linguistic differences. An American is a full-fledged citizen of the United States. Secondly, from the very beginning, the United States developed as a republic, because of this, republican values play a huge role in the American consciousness. It should also be noted that the United States is characterized by federalism and the development of regional identity.
