What is the reason for the almost complete absence of precipitation in the Namib desert?

The Namib Desert is located off the western coast of Africa. The reason for the formation of the desert lies in the peculiarities of the atmospheric circulation and the cold coastal current. Since the Namib Desert is located in tropical latitudes, tropical air circulation is characteristic here. The air sinks downward, without the formation of clouds and precipitation. The cold Benguela Current runs off the western coast of Africa. It brings with it dense, heavy cold air. It is pressed to the ground, cannot rise up and form clouds and precipitation. For these two reasons, it hardly rains here. But Namib is not the driest desert on Earth. Dew is frequent here. Cold air from the ocean falls on the overheated surface of the mainland, the water vapor contained in the air condenses and turns into dew drops. Some animals and plants in the Namib have tools for collecting this dew.
