What is the reason for the appearance of the calendar, its peculiarity?

The first calendars we know appeared during the time of Ancient Egypt. The reason for their appearance was of a practical nature – at that time there were semi-nomads engaged in cattle breeding. It was important for them when the rains fell in the Nile Valley and there would be enough vegetation to graze herds of animals. A characteristic feature of this calendar was that there was a kind of starting point for the beginning of the year – they determined it by the ascent of the star Sirius. From this moment the so-called calendar circle began.
