Granular (granulation) tissue formed during wound healing, connective tissue. The main function is a barrier, it prevents microbes from entering the wound, suppresses their vital activity, binds toxins, fills the wound cavity and participates in scar formation. In case of damage during dressing, pathological granulation may begin, or disintegration of granulations and bleeding, which will require special treatment.
