What is the role of networked computers?
Networking computers has two purposes:
1. Storage and exchange of information. Often the organization has some kind of database that all employees work with at the same time. The information is stored on a powerful server computer, which is accessed by all client machines. As a result of this exchange, the payroll accountant calculates wages, and the cashier sees the amount accrued and can issue money according to the statement. Torrents also work on this principle, when users download information from each other, and not from some large storage.
2. Shared computing resources. Quite often in large organizations, low-power computers are installed for data entry. Data processing is carried out by a powerful server computer, the price of which is several times higher. The separation of processes into input and processing allows to save on the cost of computers in the enterprise.
