What is the role of the nervous system?

The nervous system controls the ongoing psychological processes. It (the system) coordinates, directs, controls the work of the whole body and systems as a single mechanism. The nervous system takes care of the integrity of the body by combining vital processes. The transmission of inhibition and excitation occurs directly in the nerve cells. The function of regulation of the nervous system consists in the ability to instantly be excited or inhibited under the influence of an irritant, followed by a message about what is happening to the rest of the tissues and organs. An example of well-coordinated work is the reaction of the muscles of the hand in painful sensations: when a finger is pricked, a person reflexively pulls his hand away from the source of pain.
