What is the role of the Senate in Athens?

| The People’s Assembly acted as the Senate in Athens. Its members were citizens over the age of 20. The meeting performed the following functions:
Development and adoption of laws.
Consideration of issues of war and peace.
Appointed representatives to various positions, including military leaders.
Considered food supply issues.
Possessed judicial functions. When deciding on a matter of a serious criminal, an immediate conviction could be made.
Any citizen had the right to appeal to the People’s Assembly in order to resolve his issue.
