Water has specific heat and thermal conductivity, i.e. maintains thermal balance in the cell and the body. Also, when water evaporates, the body protects itself from overheating. Water serves as the main medium for chemical reactions and it also creates turgor pressure, which contributes to the elasticity of the cell.
