What is the set of chromosomes in the sex gametes?

In reproductive cells (gametes), the set of chromosomes is always haploid (single, 1n).
That is, there will always be 1n in the egg, and always 1n in the sperm!
For example, if we are given that there are 42 chromosomes in the somatic cell of a hamster, then there will be 42: 2 = 21 chromosomes in the gamete. The set of chromosomes is haploid.
