What is the significance of bright spots on the skin of some amphibians?

Bright spots, which are present on the skin of some amphibians, are a warning coloration that signals that the animal is poisonous and an attempt by a predator to eat it may end in death or other unpleasant consequences for the predator. The most brightly colored are those amphibians whose poison is the most potent: for example, in our temperate zone it is a toad (it has a brightly colored abdomen, which it shows when attacking it) and an ordinary salamander. The same is true for many tropical species.
