There are types of algae that are edible to humans (porphyry). The chemical industry uses algae in the production of cellulose, alginates, and alcohol. Can be used as biofuel. Scientists study algae as a species and interactions in nature. Many species purify water. Also aesthetic value – there are very beautiful types of algae.
