What is the significance of segmentation in annelids?

Segmentation of worms consists of two parts: external and internal. All segments are the same, therefore, in internal segmentation, many organs are repeated, which increases the survival rate of the worm in case of damage to some part of its body. Also, in each segment there are organs for the excretion of waste products and a nervous system.
