What is the significance of the glaciers of Antarctica? Why is it always cold in Antarctica?

Antarctica is the continent of eternal winter. The average annual air temperature on the Earth’s surface is determined by the amount of incoming solar radiation, which depends on the angle of incidence of the sun’s rays. Although the sun shines around the clock in Antarctic summer, it does not rise high above the horizon. The rays do not fall, but rather slide over the surface and therefore cannot heat the continent. Another important fact is that the sun’s rays are reflected from the snow-ice surface up to 90%. No clouds are formed in the polar regions, the atmosphere does not contain water vapor or dust. Reflected solar radiation does not stay in the atmosphere, but goes into space. For these reasons, it is always cold in Antarctica and the mainland is not populated by people. However, the warming climate in Antarctica is fraught with problems for humanity. The ice cover of the polar regions provides a temperature contrast between low and high latitudes. This triggers the mechanisms of global atmospheric circulation.
