What is the slave system and its features?

The slave system arose in the 4th – 3rd millennium BC and existed until about the 1st century AD. It was based on the fact that a certain group of people constantly used the labor of other people (slaves) in their own interest. Slaves usually worked in agriculture, animal husbandry, and construction. The slaves had absolutely no rights, and they had to obey the slave owner. Foreigners captured in wars, impoverished local residents or children of slaves became slaves.
