What is the state of water in a stratus cloud?

The layered cloud surface consists of a gaseous state. The atmospheric phenomena that we observe – rain and sleet – occur as a result of the transition from a gaseous state to a liquid state. At low temperatures – most often in winter – the gaseous state turns into a solid. This is how snow and hail appear.
The cloud also contains the products of condensation of water vapor – small pieces of ice and water droplets, the so-called cloud components. Some of them fall out of the cloud, but do not reach the ground.
