What is the structure of the leaf pulp cells? What type of fabric are they?

The flesh of the leaf consists of the cells of the underlying tissue. Two or three layers of pulp, located directly under the upper skin, are formed by tightly fitting elongated cells. In appearance, they resemble columns of the same size, therefore the upper part of the main tissue of the sheet is called columnar. There are especially many chloroplasts in the cytoplasm of these cells. More rounded or irregularly shaped cells lie under the columnar tissue. They lie loosely (not adjacent to each other), between them there are large intercellular spaces. These cells form spongy tissue.
